Ollie's Story

Ollie was diagnosed in October 2017 with Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma. He had just barely turned 4. He completed 1 1/2 years of chemotherapy and 7 weeks of proton radiation. We were able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Jacksonville while he completed his proton radiation. In February 2019, he had pelvic exenteration surgery. This was an 11-hour surgery that involved removing his prostate, bladder, and rectum. The cancer was finally removed! My little boy wasn’t able to walk after this major surgery.

He still had 6 more months of chemotherapy after surgery. BUT, BMX racing motivated him to get back on his bike and ride. He would show up to practice and still had very little hair. He won 2 first place nationals trophies as a 7 year old in 2021 at Music City BMX!

Camp Woodward gave him and his sister full scholarship two years ago to their BMX racing camp! He now races with a colostomy and urostomy because cancer took his bladder, rectum and prostate. He hopes to be at the Olympics one day as a BMX racer.

He has been NED (No Evidence of Disease) for 4 years now with clear MRI scans. This September will be his 5 year scan and will determine if he is in remission. We could not have made it through these difficult days without God, our church family, Vanderbilt Children’s doctors, UF Health Proton Therapy Institute, Ronald McDonald House, Feld Entertainment/Monster Jam and Bryce Kenny (driver of Mohawk Warrior), physical therapists and many others.

By making a donation, you are directly supporting childhood cancer research through the Rally Foundation. Your donation will contribute to the ongoing efforts to develop better treatments with fewer long-term side effects, and ultimately, find cures for young patients like Zoe. Stand with us in this critical cause and help bring hope to children and families battling cancer.
