Rally Kid Zoë 's Story

Zoë Tyrney of Covington Louisiana, is a 11-year-old whose family’s mission is to make a difference in the childhood cancer community. They are rallying together for the ninth consecutive year in a row to raise awareness for a cause very dear to their hearts. Zoë was only 15 months old when she was diagnosed with AT/RT, a rare and very aggressive brain tumor. She immediately underwent six back to back chemotherapy treatments, followed by 28 rounds of proton radiation. On this journey Zoë has experienced but not limited to: several biopsy, over 8 surgeries, 15+ blood transfusions, well over 30 MRI or scans, 50 plus shots, 200+ doses of a variety of medications, harvesting her own and receiving 3 stem cell transplants. During those times, the hospital became their home, and the medical teams became their family. They knew nothing other than survival from day to day. Zoë was very fortunate that her body responded well to her treatment plan which allowed her to transition into remission shorty afterwards. However, being in remission doesn’t mean her fight is over. Due to the incredibly harsh treatments her body endured, she now lives with several short term and late term effects. As soon as Zoë was NED her family’s desire to give back started! Her family wanted to find ways to give hope back to the childhood cancer community. They have spent the past nine years sharing their personal story and raising awareness to all. Of course the internet has an endless about of information about childhood cancers, but for the Tyrney’s they have a living definition in their family! Zoë’s story is just one of millions who have experienced the roller coaster of childhood cancers. However, we hope that her story reaches you, and empowers you to join their family’s mission to give HOPE back to the childhood cancer community.
