Rally Kid Claire's Story
Claire was diagnosed with AML at the end of July 2024, just a couple weeks before she was supposed to begin her freshman year of high school. At the beginning of her second round of chemo, we found out that she had a genetic mutation that meant she would have to have a bone marrow transplant. She ended up being transferred to a hospital 4 hours away from home and stay there from September 2024 to March 2025. Fortunately, her younger brother was a 100% match and ready to do whatever he needed to do to save his sister. Claire had her transplant a week before Christmas 2024. Her transplant has taken, she has rung the bell, and come home, but she will still be on maintenance chemo for a couple years. Claire stayed so strong and even tried to be a positive light to the younger kids in the hospital as well.
