Rally Kid Jocelyn's Story

We often joke that Jocelyn got a sister for her 2nd birthday and cancer for her 3rd. However it really wasn't a joke when you hear those words as a parent. Jocelyn was just 3 years old when she was diagnosed with retinoblastoma. When taking what should have been her 3yr old pictures we found a glow in her eye. After several eye apointments, doctors, and weeks of waiting, we were told the news. Your child definitely has retinoblastoma a rare form of childhood cancer that only effects 100 children a year. Once diagnosed, She had to go through several MRI's, 6 months of chemo through her port, countless eye exams under anesthesia, direct injections of chemo into the eye, laser treatments, chirotherapy, and inter arterial chemo only to be told each time the cancer was back. She would endure going to the hospital every 2 weeks to be put under anesthesia to see if the chemo was working. After 2 1/2 years of fighting, we were told the cancer spread and there were too many tumors to count. Her eye had to come out or we risked the cancer spreading to her brain and bone marrow. So with a brave little face she went into the hospital knowing she would leave with just 1 eye. The surgery took 6 long hours, but the cancer would be gone when we left the hospital. After months of healing, lots of traumatic experiences with the conformer falling out and needing to be put back in, she was finally able to get her "new" eye. Jocelyn is now a healthy happy thriving 12 year old in middle school. She rallys for other children who are fighting childhood cancer. Will you join her and purchase a shirt or make a donation? Rally on!!!
