Rally Kid Riley's Story

Hey You may know me from Crystal Hembree Photography or Ruby Elite Pageantry but im also Riley Hembree's mama! I just wanted to do a quick update! Many of you know us from the community rallying around our family! In March, Riley was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive cancer in children that attacks the muscles and the tissues of the body! (And typically not a cancer with a great survival rate) We went to CHOA with just simple body aches that just wouldn't subside! We thought he had just been working out too much with PE, & PT at school.. My biggest advice, listen to your children, advocate for them. They tried to send us home saying they couldnt do anything for body aches, and I refused to leave! WE as parents are our children's advocates! We are 13 weeks in! I could SHOUT with praises on what GOD has done in our son! HE is healing Riley! Thank you all for praying for us! We just completed our 1st set of scans since being diagnosed. 3 MRIS, bilateral bone marrow biopsy, PET and CT scan! And I am so happy to report, the bone marrow biopsy (this is where they found the cancer) showed NO EVIDENCE OF RHABDOMYOSARCOMA!!! It's gone! And the spots that had spread all over his body have shrunk significantly! Still there, but shrinking! WE GIVE GOD ALL THE GLORY! What does this mean? We STILL have to complete 42 weeks of chemo, TWO rounds of radiation 6 weeks each, every single day, and 1 year of maintenance chemotherapy! We have a long road ahead of us, but we are so trusting God fully with our son and believing he will be healed completely! Riley is already doing great, and almost back to feeling like a normal teenager again! In July we will start radiation, for us this means driving everyday to Emory. Riley has two little brothers so staying down there full time for 6 weeks will be nearly impossible, especially with school starting back! We would love for you all to keep praying for us! Continue to flood the gates of Heaven!
