Rally Kid Charlotte's Story

Charlotte was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia on September 3, 2024, and to say our family was devastated is an understatement. Her symptoms appeared gradually—easy bruising, leg pain we thought were growing pains, fevers, night sweats, and increasing fatigue. A school nurse once noticed a small scrape bleeding far too much. Her naps stretched from two to four hours, she asked to go to bed early, and her complexion turned pale. Each sign could have been explained away—viruses from school, typical childhood aches—but together they painted a picture we didn’t yet see. With Jesse’s family history of lymphoma, we took her to the pediatrician. Bloodwork was ordered, but since Charlotte had strep, we delayed labs. That evening everything changed—her health declined drastically with pain, headaches, and fatigue. Charlotte's dad rushed her to the ER, beginning a journey we never imagined. After several days at CHOA, Charlotte was diagnosed with B-cell ALL. At just two years old, she couldn’t understand why she endured daily pain, food cravings, and isolation from friends. During induction, she went weeks without toys, friends, or her dogs. Her hair fell out, her face swelled, yet her bright personality still peeked through. This experience has changed our family forever. Today, Charlotte is in maintenance—a huge milestone—and should ring the bell in November 2026. Even now, we face neutropenia, body aches, migraines, and isolation. But she continues to fight with resilience and light.
