Rally Kid Greenleigh's Story

Greenleigh was diagnosed in July 2023 at 4 years old. After several weeks of intermittent leg pain and fevers, Greenleigh spiked a fever of 103.6 prompting us to take her to the emergency room. Greenleigh’s bloodwork came back abnormal and the PA on duty came into our room to tell us that he suspected that Greenleigh may have “the ‘C’ word” and that he was sending us to the children’s hospital. After several hours, we arrived by ambulance and were greeted by a team of doctors who would ultimately change our lives forever. More testing was done, and at approximately 2:30 AM on the morning of July 27th, 2023, Greenleigh was formally diagnosed with standard risk B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She immediately received blood products, was scheduled for port placement, chemo treatments, and bone marrow biopsy, and the cancer journey officially began. About a month after diagnosis, we received a phone call that wasn’t one we wanted. Genetic testing had come back, and Greenleigh’s showed that she would be moved into the very high risk category of treatment due to the Philadelphia-like gene mutation, which causes more kids to relapse. Greenleigh has experienced a number of hospitalizations, infections, a port replacement surgery, developmental delays, and physical decline since diagnosis. She’s handled it all with such grace and strength. She fights every day to beat this and she won’t give up until she can say she’s completely cancer free!
