Rally Kid Mason's Story
Mason was diagnosed with Acute myeloid leukemia when he was 32 months old, he received intensive chemotherapy treatment at Children’s Hospital for months. He went through extreme pain no child would ever go through. Additionally, he laid on the hospital bed crying in pain and begging me to take him home. There was not much I as his mom could do to help him through days and nights besides being there to comfort and love him. Despite the excruciating pain, he was loved by nursing staff and everyone surrounding him. Because of how fast the cancer cell was growing in his bone marrow, he needed a bone marrow donor. Fortunately, his big sister, Nyla, was a match and was able to do something very brave and hope to change Mason’s life forever. She went under anesthesia on February 28, 2026 to have her marrow harvested and infused to Mason. Moreover, he underwent numerous bone marrow biopsy for disease evaluation throughout his stay and outpatient. As he is over 100 days post transplant and has stable labs, both of his BMT and Oncology team are starting his maintenance chemotherapy as of August, 2026. We pray for Mason’s cure.
