Rally Kid Emma Rae's Story
Emma Rae was diagnosed with Pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in June 2015, just shy of her fourth birthday. I still remember sitting in that room and hearing the words, “There’s no easy way to tell you this.” From that moment, life became chemo, spinal taps, steroids, transfusions, hospital stays, port surgeries, and learning how to take everything one day at a time.
But Emma Rae? She just kept being Emma Rae. Funny, sassy, brave, joyful, and full of faith. She amazed us then, and she still amazes us now.
After more than two years of treatment, Emma Rae celebrated “No Mo Chemo” and was considered cured in 2019. She still goes back yearly for labs and monitoring, but today she is happy, healthy, and thriving. She will turn fifteen this September, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and is heading into her freshman year of high school. She plays school and club volleyball, loves the Lord, and continues to remind us what hope looks like.
We love Rally and are so grateful for the work they do for kids like Emma Rae. Childhood cancer research gave our girl the chance to grow up, and that is a gift we will never take lightly.
