Rally Kid Kinslee's Story
Kinslee’s journey began before she was even born. During a routine prenatal ultrasound, doctors discovered that her kidneys were significantly enlarged. What started as a concerning finding quickly became a life-changing journey for our family. After Kinslee was born, she was referred to a pediatric kidney specialist. Following multiple tests, we received the devastating news that she had a tumor on her right kidney called Wilms tumor. Doctors also discovered suspicious spots on her left kidney—an extremely rare finding. Within days, we were faced with making unimaginable decisions for our precious baby. Kinslee underwent emergency surgery to remove her right kidney and was immediately referred to pediatric oncology. Throughout every appointment, surgery, and test, we did our best to stay strong for our little girl. But behind the smiles, our hearts were breaking. No parent ever expects to hear the word “cancer,” especially when their child hasn’t even celebrated her first birthday. Watching our beautiful baby endure so much in her first year of life was heartbreaking. After careful evaluation, Kinslee’s oncology team recommended 22 weeks of chemotherapy in hopes of preventing the spots on her remaining kidney from growing. By the grace of God and the incredible care of her medical team, the treatment was successful. The spots have remained stable with no growth, and today Kinslee has been chemotherapy-free for four years. Although her journey isn’t over, we are incredibly grateful. She continues to have regular checkups and ultrasounds to closely monitor her remaining kidney, but she is thriving. Kinslee is a happy, healthy little girl who fills our lives with joy every single day.
