Rally Kid Andi's Story

My daughter Andi was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in April 2024 at the age of eight. We were told that Andi had a cyst on her hip and needed surgery, even though a MRI revealed "possible bone tumor and would recommend CT and orthopedic oncology consult." The orthopedic doctor we saw said these exact words, "That radiologist is an idiot, and I know it's a cyst." He also said he had reviewed the results with other physicians in his practice and they all agreed. He came out from surgery and said Andi did wonderful; she would be tumbling again in 6 months. After surgery I called for THREE weeks regarding the biopsy results....The day we had her post op appointment he told us he still did not have the results, but her biopsy was sent to St. Judes......we left his office and an hour later he called me on the phone and told me my daughter had Ewing's Sarcoma. This doctor put a plate and screws through the tumor in my daughter's leg. Two days later we had a PET scan that revealed soft tissue involvement but could not see the "tumor" because the plate was hiding it. Our daughter had to endure that horrible surgery, chemotherapy for 10 cycles, another HUGE surgery and 4 more cycles of chemotherapy. Our daughter struggles EVERY single day and as a mom all I want to do is protect her. As of today she has been in remission for 18 months!
