Rally Kid Davis' Story

What started as a few weeks of lower back pain and constipation ended in an ER visit and subsequent ambulance transfer (Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025) to Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola, FL. On Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, Davis was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. We are extremely fortunate that Davis is on the lowest risk level for this cancer, but the treatment protocol for children with blood cancer is a long road. Davis had diagnosis, port placement, a bone marrow biopsy and a spinal tap that first week. After 10 nights, we were able to go home. Since diagnosis, Davis has endured countless rounds of chemo, many spinal taps, several transfusions, and two blocks of continuous immunotherapy. But in every peak and valley, every treatment setback, every tear, and every laugh, we have felt God’s hand on Davis and our family. He is good in all things, and He has taught us so much about slowing down, perseverance, and prioritizing.  Davis is in the last intense round of treatment through August, and he will begin maintenance therapy in September, which will entail once per month chemo through December 2027. Maintenance means we can resume many normal activities from going back to school in person to going back to church and other public activities within reason. He cannot play contact sports until after his port is removed (sometime in early 2028), but he can play with his friends, golf with his dad, and shoot hoops in the backyard. Overall, we are GRATEFUL for Davis’s life, and we are blessed with a far-reaching support system. Each family member, friend, friend of friends, childhood illness foundation (including Rally!), and local business who have shown us kindness and support have truly carried us through.  Follow along on our journey here:   https://www.facebook.com/groups/courageousdavis Rally on!
