Rally Kid Blake's Story
August of 2025 Blake came down with strep throat. He was treated with antibiotics and sent on his way. 10days after he started to complain of abdominal pain and deep down we could feel a small lump. We chalked it up to being constipated from the medication. As the weeks went on the lump grew and he would have fevers, upset stomach and random vomiting. We went to four different ERs before someone would scan him. Finally someone listed to us and an 18cm mass appeared on the scan. We were sent to Nemours where we met Dr Swartz and began testing.
It came back Burketts Lymphoma, a rare lymphoma. Blake underwent multiple rounds of intensive chemotherapy requiring 8 day hospitalization stays each time. At the end of December we did another biopsy to determine if the residual mass was scar tissue or active cancer.
By the grace of God it came back negative for cancer cells! Thanks to the wonderful team at Nemours, Rally for the support and Dr Swartz, Blake is now in survivorship!
