Rally Kid Dominic's Story
Dominic James Martinez was born a healthy and happy baby boy on November 4th 2018. When he was just 19 months old we started to notice a change in him. He was lethargic, bruises started to appear on his body that took too long to heal and his gums began to bleed easily. Desperately we sought answers with his pediatrician, dentist, and finally with a trip to Urgent care where we were taken by ambulance to the Children's Hospital. On July 14th 2020 he was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia KMT2A-rearrangement). Dominic was always so full of life, he loved going outside playing with his cars and his 2 kitties at home. All the nurses on our floor loved him and looked forward to seeing him on his daily walks through the halls waving and telling everyone Hi! Dominic was a fighter and fought very hard to keep his life even to the end he didn't take his last breath until Mama and Daddy told him it was ok to go to heaven. On November 14th, 2020 just after his 2nd birthday Dominic died of a brain bleed that was due to the harsh chemotherapy drugs that were meant to save his life. It was all just too much for his little body to handle. We miss our sweet son every minute of every day and we look forward to seeing him again in paradise. Please feel free to follow Dominic's memorial page on Facebook where we share photos, videos, and fundraisers to honor our sweet boy https://www.facebook.com/RememberingDominicJames
