Rally Kid Ja'Vaughn's Story
Nothing prepared me for having to take custody of my four grandsons 10 years ago. They all had special needs, they all required so much more than my children that I had already raised. I questioned God, my faith and my ability to take on such a monumental task at my age. But God showed me what to do daily, His grace followed us constantly. And then those dreaded words assaulted us all. Your child has cancer! Having raised a child already with life threatening illnesses I could have thought this is NOT FAIR.
Instead we chose to pivot, not panic. Cancer may of taken my babies smile, innocence and even his leg, but not his spirit or resolve. Through years of chemo, PT, surgeries and all that comes with such a rough diagnosis. He stands resolute and upright. His smile has returned. He’s currently looking forward to celebrating his cancerversary. I can’t thank God enough for this journey and his covering grace and care over us through it all.
