Rally Kid Aidyn's Story
Brief summary although I am more than welcome to go into detail. Aidyn had physcial for back to school and at the visit for checkup the nurse practioner noticed he was pale. The NP called multiple times a day therafter wanting us to get bloodwork. We didnt think anything of it and figured it was a typical follow up call on our care at the office. I answered and she expressed his paleness was cause for bloodwork and if we can go in to our neareast CHOA. Not even 24 hours later , the office called and asked if we could swing by Arthur Blank as Aidyn information was ready for him . Not knowing what to expect we went and within an hour the doctor told us "Your child has cancer. Either Leukemia or another type, but we are running tests to see which one". The next 48 hours were spent with surgery , multiple infusions, lab work , influx of information overload of all the medicines and side effects he will have. Aidyn stayed in the hospital for about 5 days , we came home and went back within 24 hours due to his fever and stayed in the hospital for another 20 days. Aidyn since then has developed bravery and courage despite his feelings of not wanting to be poked to get accessed. Follow up appointments after the long stay in the hospital were very hard on Aidyn as he fear of the hospital grew stronger with each weekly appointment. He has been doing much better and looking forward to ringing his bell Next Fall!
