Rally Kid Ezra's Story
Our childhood cancer story began in May 2026, when our six-year-old son, Ezra, was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Before cancer, Ezra was an energetic little boy who loved playing outside, baseball, sports, and riding anything with wheels. In what felt like an instant, childhood was replaced with hospital rooms, chemotherapy, spinal taps, transfusions, medications, and numbers that determined whether we could go home or had to stay. We have watched Ezra lose weight, strength, hair, and pieces of the carefree childhood he once knew. He has endured nausea, infections, dangerously low blood counts, long hospital stays, and days when simply getting out of bed required incredible courage. Yet through it all, he continues to smile, play, and find joy wherever he can. He has learned to protect his port, breathe through nausea, and face procedures that no child should ever have to understand. Childhood cancer affects the entire family. It changes schedules, relationships, finances, plans, and the way you see the future. It means living from one blood count to the next, fearing every fever, and trying to remain strong while watching your child fight for his life. But Ezra’s story is not only about cancer. It is a story of courage, faith, resilience, and a community that continues to carry us when we cannot stand on our own. We do not know why this became part of our journey, but we know Ezra is so much more than his diagnosis. He is funny, loving, adventurous, sports-obsessed, and unbelievably strong. Our story is still being written. Treatment will continue for years, but we will keep walking beside Ezra through every hard day and celebrating every victory. We are Ezra Strong, and we will continue fighting until every child has the chance to grow up and simply be a kid.
